Top Opp of the Week: #CreateCop29

Leading global creative agency, Art Partner, has announced an open call to artists and creatives of all nationalities, races, genders and faiths aged 14-30 for #CreateCOP29. The contest is looking for submissions that engage with the urgent need for climate action, bringing attention to the upcoming United Nations Climate Change Conference 2024 (UNFCCC COP 29).

Applicants are able to apply with any medium, including —but not limited to — photography projects, docu-style and experimental film, performance art, spoken word, musical compositions, fashion design, new media, and social media projects.

Eight finalists will be awarded cash prizes of $10k, $5k or $2k. With an additional 20 creatives receiving honourable mentions by a globally recognised panel of judges.

Internships

Raquel De Carvalho

Raquel De Carvalho is looking for a Studio Intern to join their team in North London, starting in September. Main tasks will include: supporting the design team throughout the new collection development, tracing and adjusting patterns, cutting and stretching sewn fabrics, assisting on fittings, and developing upcycled pieces and knitted/crochet samples. Applicants must be currently studying BA Fashion/Knitwear at University and have part-time availability for 3-6 months. Apply by sending CV and portfolio here.

Residencies

The Air We Share

The Air We Share A.I.R artist residency programme is an initiative that engages with the increasingly important issue of air quality and pollution through artistic interventions, citizen science and community action. The three significant artist-in-residence opportunities are valued at €38,000 each, over 9 months (Oct 2024- July 2025), and are  managed by the creative lead partner Galway Arts Centre. Open to artists/collectives of all disciplines – including but not limited to; visual arts, socially-engaged practices, immersive technologies, including augmented reality + virtual reality and film, dance, theatre, music, spoken word, and digital arts. The Air We Share invites artists to propose ambitious, innovative and collaborative projects that will engage with the community of Westside, and respond to the scientific research related to the atmosphere, air quality, and climate conducted by citizen scientists and climate scientists in the University of Galway.

The Artists Residencies Art Explora – Cité Internationale des Arts

The Art Explora Foundation, in collaboration with the Cité Internationale des Arts, welcomes residents, artists and researchers from all over the world every year. This programme offers the possibility for artists and artist collectives to carry out research and creation work in the heart of Paris, in connection with the French artistic and professional scene. Residents will develop a project that addresses contemporary issues, including new technologies, the links between art and science, environmental, political and social issues. Applicants can choose to undergo a solo six-month programme or a collective artists residency over three months. Open to artists and researchers of all nationalities and ages, however applicants must justify a minimum of five years of professional activity. Eligible artistic disciplines include: visual arts, performing arts, digital arts, art criticism & curating. Eligible areas of research: humanities, social sciences, sciences, technological innovation, ecology. Along with their residency, recipients will receive a grant of €1000 per month, a production grant of up to €3000, and a round trip to the residence. Applications open from 25th September 2024.

Artist Residency: Film London x Brent Archives

Film London Artists’ Moving Image Network (FLAMIN), London’s Screen Archives (LSA) and Brent Museum and Archives have announced their new artist residency as part of the Becoming Brent programme. Across a series of public events, Becoming Brent will explore the harsh realities of Britain’s colonial past and its ongoing legacy. This artist residency comes as one of a number of creative outputs that will explore the impact of empire and its significance for Brent and its communities, particularly its South Asian and Caribbean population. The selected artist will receive £3,000 to support their research and £3,200 to deliver a public-facing response developed from research undertaken over the residency period. Eligible applicants must work with moving image as part of their practice and be based in London. Preference will be given to artists with a connection to Brent.

Research Residencies of L'Internationale project Museum of the Commons – Climate

Museum of the Commons is a four-year project (2023 to 2026) implemented by the confederation L’Internationale and Museo Reina Sofía, financed by the European Union through the Creative Europe Programme. The project centres on three main focal points: the climate emergency, decolonial perspectives and situated institutionalism. Two residencies are available over 4-6 months, with each recipient granted €5000. Open to individual and joint applicants (researchers, artists, cultural agents, educators). Applicants must submit a research project aligned with Climate themes like sustainability, diaspora, communal practices, etc.

Digital Art Residency: arebyte in collaboration with Goldsmiths University

arebyte, in partnership with Goldsmiths University, has announced a four month residency programme in London, inviting three digital artists from around the UK to critically challenge, disrupt, and redefine the boundaries of digital creativity and innovation. Applicants must be practising digital art/new media technology artists, researchers and/or creatives, and based in London for the duration of residency. One place will be allocated to a Goldsmiths alumni from the computational art department. The residency offers: a free desk space located at arebyte’s London City Island Studios and access to Goldsmiths University facilities, curatorial sessions with arebyte’s Creative Director and an external curator of your choosing, ongoing production support from arebyte’s Production Manager, as well as a £1000 stipend.

Rijksakademie Residency 2025/26

The Rijksakademie houses a highly international, multi-disciplinary, experimental and critically engaged artist community. It is offering a two-year residency programme that annually offers artists space for research, experimentation and for the production of new work. Residents are supported with a studio, work budget, a stipend, and of €14,000, and can seek advice from leading art professionals from a wide variety of cultural and creative backgrounds. An application fee of €60 is charged, and selected artists are to pay a participation fee of €1,875 each year. Open to visual artists across all countries and disciplines.

Al-Tiba9 Artist Directory 2024

Al-Tiba9 Contemporary Art is a leading international platform in the contemporary art world, facilitating print and digital distribution of featured artists in its magazine, art books, web, and social media presence, and through participation in art fairs across Spain and Portugal. Its artist page directory will serve as a development space for new and emerging talent, and provide professional connections and collaborations across a global network of galleries, museums, art collectors and dealers, art professionals, and academics. All visual artists in the fields of digital arts, photography, painting, architecture, sculpture & installations, film or video art, fashion design, interior design, and performance are encouraged to apply! Inclusion in the directory will grant featured artists the benefit of international exposure to the Al-Tiba9 network, engagement with online and print readers, as well as institutional partners such as ArtsLibris Barcelona, ARCOmadrid, and ARCOlisboa, in addition to curated connections with fellow artists across various platforms.

ReA! Art Fair Milan 2025

ReA! Art Fair in Milan offers a platform for independent artists outside the traditional gallery system to showcase and sell their work. This opportunity is for emerging artists working in sculpture, painting, drawing, photography, digital art, mixed media, performance, video art and street art. Prizes including a cash grant of €1500 and a fully paid arts residency will be awarded to two artists.

The H.O.N.E.Y Incubator UAL Creative Shift x The Midnight Club Prize

Creative Shift (UAL) x The Midnight Club (TMC) are offering a new award of up to £5,000 each for 2 winners, supporting aspiring final-year UAL students and/or recent graduate entrepreneurs from underrepresented groups to bring their innovative products and concepts to life. Apply with a project or idea that adds something new or different to your industry or discipline. It should also have a positive impact on your own practice. Your project can be within any creative discipline studied at UAL, and must be an independent, single arts proposal completed from the period of October 2024 - June 2025. TAF Emerging Artist Award - South Asia

The Arts Family (TAF) is now accepting applications for it's Fourth Edition of TAF Emerging Artist Award - South Asia 2025. The award is open to artists around the world from the age of 25 to 45 years and of South Asian origin  i.e. India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Nepal, Maldives, Afghanistan and Sri Lanka and the diaspora. A total cash prize of £3000 will be awarded to the winner and runner-ups, as well a £250 prize for a Special Young Artist. A selected creative will also be awarded a one-month residency at The Borlase Smart John Wells Trust, offering studio space in Cornwall, England. Additional candidates will receive career mentorship opportunities by one of the post-graduate students of the Master's Degree programme taught by faculty of Sotheby's Institute of Art, London.

The Foundwork Artist Prize

The Foundwork Artist Prize is an annual juried award inaugurated in 2019 to recognise outstanding emerging and mid-career artists working in any media, and is open to artists residing in any location worldwide with limited exceptions. The deadline to register is 11:59 pm PT, September 26, 2024. The honouree will receive an unrestricted $10,000 grant, as well as studio visits with distinguished Foundwork jurors Rachel Uffner (NYC), Olivia Aherne (London); Monsieur Zohore (Richmond, NYC, Abidjan); Mohamed Almusibli (Basel); and Lorraine Kiang (Hong Kong). They will also be invited for long-form interviews along with three shortlisted artists, as part of the Foundwork Dialogues program, to further public engagement with their work.

UK and International Partner Awards 2024

In partnership with British Council, Unlimited have announced five International Partner Awards of up to £50,000 for collaboration between UK-based and international disabled artists — within selected countries which are eligible to receive Official Development Assistance (ODA). Seeking genuine international collaboration, as well as positive social and/or economic impacts, from artists wishing to create and share a new piece of work! Projects can be created in any of the following artforms: architecture, combined arts, dance, drama, fashion, film, literature, music, and/or visual arts. Grants

Kunstverein Hannover Award 2025–2026: Three Residency Grants

The Kunstverein Hannover awards three grants every two years for young contemporary artists, with the support of the Ministry of Science and Culture of Lower Saxony, the Kulturbüro of the city of Hannover, and Gundlach Bau und Immobilien GmbH & Co. KG. The three grants are divided into the two-year Lower Saxony Advancement Grant, the one-year Lower Saxony Young Artist Grant and the one-year National Young Artist Grant, each of which is supported with a monthly amount of €1000 and offers a studio with accommodation. Each recipient will also have their recent work featured in an exhibition at the Kunstverein Hannover.  You can find detailed application guidance and information here.
